Craftsmanship

We take great pride in ensuring the utmost quality of stone and craftsmanship in every piece. Due to the inherent nature of natural stone, variations in color or pattern may occur, adding to its unique charm.

Please note that the images on our website serve as a reference only. If you prefer to inspect the stone before production, we can provide samples or slab images for your order. Each Elsa piece is distinct due to the natural characteristics of the material.

Embrace the uniqueness of your piece; that's the beauty of natural stone. No two pieces are identical, making it exclusively yours.

Stone being a natural product may contain fissures, cracks, holes and pits. These are not faults and are inherit within the stone which stems from the time the block is extracted from the mountains in the quarry it comes from. Whilst this product pictured is the exact product you will be receiving with the purchase, photos taken may show a slightly different representation due to angles and lighting used during photography.

Please take the time to read over our carefully crafted care guide to make sure you treat your Elsa Home & Beauty piece with Tender, Love & Care.

The Roman is an organic-form travertine bathtub 1760mm long, 850mm wide and 600mm high carved from a single block of Roman travertine. Unlike conventional oval bathtubs where the walls rise to a consistent height all the way around, the Roman has an asymmetric profile one end rises significantly higher than the other, creating a high-back reclined bathing position. The form is fluid and vessel-like, shaped as though by water rather than cut to a geometric specification.

Roman travertine is a warm, cream-toned stone quarried in central Italy — the same stone used in the construction of the Colosseum. Its characteristic horizontal layering and natural pitting run through the full depth of the block, which means the organic carved form of the Roman bathtub exposes the stone's interior character across every surface — inside the basin, across the rim, and down the exterior walls.

The bathtub is carved from a single continuous block — no joins, no composite materials, no applied surface coating. The interior basin is smooth and honed. The exterior follows the organic contour of the form.

For a complete Roman travertine bathroom, pair with our travertine vanity tops and basins for a seamless stone finish throughout the space.

  • Solid Roman travertine — carved from one continuous block
  • 1760mm x 850mm x 600mm high
  • Asymmetric organic form — high-back one end, low the other
  • Smooth honed interior basin
  • Each piece unique in tone, layering and pitting

All our bespoke designs are available for custom sizing and your specification of marble, please email us at hello@elsahomeandbeauty.com.au for any pricing combination of design and material.

We spent upwards of $10K on furniture last year and couldn’t be happier with the experience not to mention the products themselves. Costa was In constant communication with us which we appreciated even though they took longer than initially quoted. Everything is still holding up well and in great shape!! We are planning to order a few items soon so I am hoping the service is just as good this time around!

I have to admit, at first I was skeptical because the items seemed so reasonably priced, but I was quickly proven wrong after just a short conversation. We are thrilled with our custom-made Green Onyx coffee table from Elsa Home & Beauty, it truly feels like we made the perfect choice! Visiting the showroom really helped us appreciate the variety and quality of the stone options, thank you for bringing our dream piece to life!

Common Questions

What is the Roman travertine bathtub carved from?

The Roman is carved from a single continuous block of Roman travertine — no joins, no composite core, no applied surface coating. Roman travertine is quarried in central Italy and has been used in landmark architecture for over two thousand years, including the Colosseum. The warm cream tones, horizontal layering and characteristic natural pitting of the stone run through the full depth of the block and are visible across every carved surface of the bath.

What makes the Roman's form different from a standard oval bathtub?

The Roman has an asymmetric organic profile — one end rises significantly higher than the other, creating a natural high-back reclined bathing position. This is fundamentally different from a conventional oval bathtub where the walls rise to a consistent height all the way around. The form is fluid and vessel-like, shaped to follow the body rather than conform to a geometric specification.

Is the Roman travertine bathtub heavy and how do I prepare for installation?

Yes — solid stone bathtubs are significantly heavier than acrylic or composite alternatives. The Roman at 1760mm x 850mm requires professional installation by an experienced stonemason or bathroom installer. Before ordering we recommend consulting your installer to confirm your bathroom floor can support the weight and that access through doorways and corridors is sufficient for a stone piece of this size.
