These are not faults and are inherit within the stone which stems from the time the block is extracted from the mountains in the quarry it comes from. Materials & Finishes

Calacatta Viola is quarried from the Apuan Alps in Tuscany the same mountain range responsible for Carrara, Statuario, and the world's most significant decorative marbles. The Viola variety is distinguished by the purple and mauve pigmentation in its veining, produced by manganese oxide and iron compounds present during the marble's formation under heat and pressure. The colour runs through the full depth of the stone — it is not a surface treatment, coating, or dye.

The veining in Calacatta Viola is more dramatic in scale and contrast than standard Calacatta the purple-black accents sit against a bright white base with very little grey mid-tone between them, which gives the stone an unusually high visual contrast for a white marble. This is what makes it a statement material rather than a background one: it commands attention across a room in a way that more neutral marbles do not.

Every slab is geologically unique. The pattern, intensity, and distribution of veining will vary between pieces this variation is inherent to the material and is what distinguishes natural marble from engineered or sintered alternatives.

The surface is finished to a [honed / polished] finish. [If polished: polished Calacatta Viola amplifies the contrast between the white base and the purple veining, and gives the surface a reflective depth that changes with the light in the room. If honed: honed Calacatta Viola produces a softer, matte surface that diffuses light across the veining rather than reflecting it sharply — it reads as refined and tactile rather than glossy.]

The Calacatta Viola Coffee Table is a round marble coffee table cut from solid Calacatta Viola one of the most visually distinctive marbles quarried from the Apuan Alps in Tuscany. The stone is defined by its white base and the depth of its veining: grey and fawn patterns undercut by deep purple-black and mauve accents that give Calacatta Viola its unusually rich tonal range compared to standard white marbles.

The round format is deliberate. Where rectangular coffee tables anchor a room, a round marble table allows movement and conversation around it naturally it works particularly well in living rooms where the sofa arrangement wraps around a central point rather than facing a fixed axis. The sculptural base continues the material from top to floor, so there is no visual break in the stone.

Each slab is geologically unique. The distribution of purple veining, the intensity of the mauve accents, and the depth of the grey patterns will vary from piece to piece what you see in the photography reflects the character of the stone but your table will carry its own specific pattern.

What is the base made from?

The base is carved from the same solid Calacatta Viola marble block as the table top there is no metal frame, composite substrate, or secondary material involved. The stone is continuous from the surface to the floor, which gives the piece its sculptural weight and visual coherence.

Is Calacatta Viola marble durable enough for everyday use as a coffee table?

Yes marble is a hard, dense natural stone that handles everyday use well. A few sensible precautions will keep the surface in excellent condition: use coasters under glasses and cups (particularly anything hot or acidic), avoid placing sharp objects directly on the surface without protection, and clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner rather than household sprays. Reseal annually.

What finish is the surface?
