These are not faults and are inherit within the stone which stems from the time the block is extracted from the mountains in the quarry it comes from. The Amara is a round Nero Marquina dining table 1300mm in diameter, 760mm high, seats six with a single fluted column pedestal base. The column is carved from the same Nero Marquina marble as the top, with vertical grooves running its full height. In deep black marble the fluting casts sharp shadow lines between each groove, making the base as visually considered as the surface above it.
Nero Marquina is quarried in the Basque Country in northern Spain one of the few genuinely black marbles, with a deep opaque black base and sharp white veining that runs across the surface in fine contrast. The round top has a tapered edge profile that keeps the silhouette refined rather than heavy despite the visual weight of the stone.
The central fluted pedestal base provides unobstructed legroom at every seat no legs to navigate, no head-of-table hierarchy. Six diners sit equally placed around a 1300mm round top with comfortable space between them.
The Amara is also available in Travertine Navona and Calacatta Viola — the same fluted column design in two very different stones.
