Lucifer Green Marble Dining Table

The Lucifer is made from Verde Alpi marble a rare metamorphic stone quarried from the Aosta Valley in the Italian Alps, one of the most geologically distinctive green marbles available in natural stone furniture. Verde Alpi forms when serpentinite rock is subjected to extreme heat and pressure during tectonic activity, transforming the original mineral composition into a dense, richly coloured stone. The deep green colouration is produced by serpentine and chlorite minerals present throughout the rock it runs through the full depth of the stone and is a permanent geological characteristic, not a surface treatment, dye, or finish.

Verde Alpi is distinguished from other green marbles by the specific character of its veining. The base tone is a deep, cool forest green — more muted and complex in hue than the saturated greens of Verde Guatemala or the translucent greens of onyx. Running through that base is a network of bright white calcite veins sharp, precise, and often angular in their geometry which create a strong contrast against the dark ground. In larger slabs the veining develops a web-like quality across the surface, with secondary grey and pale green deposits filling the spaces between the white veins. This combination of deep base, bright veining, and subtle mid-tone variation gives Verde Alpi a depth and complexity that reads differently at close range than it does from across a room.

Both the tabletop and the stacked ring base are carved from the same Verde Alpi marble. There is no metal frame, composite substrate, or engineered material involved the stone is solid and continuous from the table surface to the floor. The ring base geometry is cut from the same stone, meaning the characteristic white veining continues through the base rings rather than resetting at a join.

Every slab of Verde Alpi is geologically unique. The intensity of the green, the density and distribution of the white calcite veining, and the presence of grey or pale green secondary deposits will vary between pieces. The photography on this page represents the character of the stone accurately your table will share the same deep green tone and bold white veining contrast, but the specific pattern will be its own.
