Craftsmanship

We take great pride in ensuring the utmost quality of stone and craftsmanship in every piece. Due to the inherent nature of natural stone, variations in color or pattern may occur, adding to its unique charm.

Please note that the images on our website serve as a reference only. If you prefer to inspect the stone before production, we can provide samples or slab images for your order. Each Elsa piece is distinct due to the natural characteristics of the material.

Embrace the uniqueness of your piece; that's the beauty of natural stone. No two pieces are identical, making it exclusively yours.

Stone being a natural product may contain fissures, cracks, holes and pits. These are not faults and are inherit within the stone which stems from the time the block is extracted from the mountains in the quarry it comes from. Whilst this product pictured is the exact product you will be receiving with the purchase, photos taken may show a slightly different representation due to angles and lighting used during photography.

Please take the time to read over our carefully crafted care guide to make sure you treat your Elsa Home & Beauty piece with Tender, Love & Care.

Materials & Finishes

Travertine is a sedimentary limestone formed over thousands of years by the deposit of calcium carbonate from mineral-rich springs. Its characteristic surface — the natural pores and channels that give it its organic, textured quality — formed as gases escaped through the material during its creation. Each section of travertine is geologically unique: the distribution of pores, the depth of tone, and the natural veining vary from slab to slab, which is why no two baths from this mould are identical.

For a freestanding bath, travertine's most significant practical quality is its thermal mass. Solid stone absorbs and retains heat at a rate that no acrylic, resin, or composite material can replicate. Once the bath is filled and the stone has absorbed the initial heat from the water, it begins returning that heat to the water rather than losing it to the surrounding air. The result is a bath that stays warm significantly longer than a synthetic equivalent — the water temperature remains consistent throughout a long soak without needing to add hot water. This is not a marginal difference; it is one of the most tangible functional reasons to choose solid stone over any alternative material.

A freestanding oval bathtub carved from solid natural travertine 1700mm long, 750mm wide, 460mm high. The basin, rim, and exterior are one continuous piece of stone, with no joins, composite materials, or applied surface coatings.

The thermal mass of solid stone means this bath retains heat significantly longer than acrylic or composite alternatives the water stays warm throughout a full soak without topping up. That is a functional advantage that no synthetic material can replicate.

The travertine surface is filled and honed to a smooth matte finish. The warm ivory and walnut tones with natural pore patterning vary between pieces your bath will share the same stone type and general palette as the images but will have its own distinct character.

We spent upwards of $10K on furniture last year and couldn’t be happier with the experience not to mention the products themselves. Costa was In constant communication with us which we appreciated even though they took longer than initially quoted. Everything is still holding up well and in great shape!! We are planning to order a few items soon so I am hoping the service is just as good this time around!

I have to admit, at first I was skeptical because the items seemed so reasonably priced, but I was quickly proven wrong after just a short conversation. We are thrilled with our custom-made Green Onyx coffee table from Elsa Home & Beauty, it truly feels like we made the perfect choice! Visiting the showroom really helped us appreciate the variety and quality of the stone options, thank you for bringing our dream piece to life!

Common Questions

Is the Travertine bathtub sealed?

Yes. Each Travertine natural stone bathtub is professionally sealed to protect against water absorption, stains, and mineral deposits. Proper sealing ensures durability while maintaining the natural beauty and smooth finish of the stone.

Do Travertine bathtubs require maintenance?

Travertine bathtubs are relatively low-maintenance. Clean with a soft cloth and mild, pH-neutral soap, and avoid harsh or acidic cleaners. Periodic resealing is recommended to preserve the stone’s finish and enhance its long-term durability.

Is this bathtub suitable for everyday use?

Absolutely. Travertine is a dense, durable stone that can withstand regular bathing. The bathtub is designed for comfort and practicality, combining functional usability with luxury aesthetics.

What tapware configuration is compatible?

This bath is compatible with both floor-mounted and freestanding tap configurations. Wall-mounted tapware can also work depending on your bathroom layout. Tapware is sold separately — contact us if you would like guidance on compatible brassware options.

How much does the travertine bathtub weigh, and does my floor need reinforcement?

A solid travertine bath of this size typically weighs between 450 and 500kg when empty, and significantly more when filled with water. We strongly recommend a structural assessment of your bathroom floor before installation. We can connect you with a structural engineer familiar with stone bath installations — contact us at hello@elsahomeandbeauty.com.au.
