Craftsmanship

We take great pride in ensuring the utmost quality of stone and craftsmanship in every piece. Due to the inherent nature of natural stone, variations in color or pattern may occur, adding to its unique charm.

Please note that the images on our website serve as a reference only. If you prefer to inspect the stone before production, we can provide samples or slab images for your order. Each Elsa piece is distinct due to the natural characteristics of the material.

Embrace the uniqueness of your piece; that's the beauty of natural stone. No two pieces are identical, making it exclusively yours.

Stone being a natural product may contain fissures, cracks, holes and pits. These are not faults and are inherit within the stone which stems from the time the block is extracted from the mountains in the quarry it comes from. Whilst this product pictured is the exact product you will be receiving with the purchase, photos taken may show a slightly different representation due to angles and lighting used during photography.

Please take the time to read over our carefully crafted care guide to make sure you treat your Elsa Home & Beauty piece with Tender, Love & Care.

Round Format: Why It Works

Round dining tables are consistently preferred for social dining — the format means every person at the table has equal proximity to every other person, with no head-of-table hierarchy. Conversation flows differently around a round table
than a rectangular one.

For dining rooms of moderate proportions, a round table also manages space more efficiently than a rectangular equivalent seating the same number of people. The Franca in particular, with its central pedestal base rather than four
corner legs, maximises the usable floor space beneath the table.

•  Promotes equal conversation — no positional hierarchy,
everyone faces inward.

•  Space efficient — round tables fit more comfortably in
square dining rooms than rectangular tables of equivalent area.

•  No corner leg obstruction — the central pedestal means
seating comfort is consistent at every position.

•   Softer geometry — the curved edge reads more gently in
open-plan spaces than sharp rectangular corners.

How to Style the Franca

Travertine's neutral warmth makes it a generous base to style around rather than a dominant piece that constrains other choices. That said, certain combinations bring out the stone's character better than others.

Dining chairs:

•  Upholstered in linen or boucle — the contrast between
soft woven fabric and the stone surface creates textural depth. Works especially well in ivory, sand, warm white, and terracotta tones.

• Natural timber — a rattan, cane, or solid timber chair
in oak, ash, or walnut reads as complementary to travertine's organic quality without competing with it.

•  Leather and metal — a matte black or aged brass frame
with leather upholstery creates a more contemporary contrast. Particularly effective if your broader space uses warm metals.

Table styling:

•  A linen table runner in warm white or terracotta adds
softness and protects the surface during everyday use.

•  Stone or ceramic tableware reinforces the natural
material story — avoid mirrored or highly reflective place settings which create visual disconnection.

•  A sculptural centrepiece — a marble bowl, travertine
vase, or a cluster of architectural objects — works better than floral arrangements for the aesthetic the Franca suits.

Room context:

•  The Franca reads well in open-plan living and dining
spaces where its visual weight anchors the dining zone without requiring walls
to contain it.

•  In a dedicated dining room, it can carry more
decorative surrounding elements — bold lighting, a statement rug, wallpaper without being overwhelmed.

• Works in both contemporary and classical interiors,
though the pedestal base reads more contemporary than traditional.

The Franca is a solid travertine round dining table built around a single conical pedestal carved from the same stone block as the top. No joins, no material mixing just one continuous piece of natural travertine from surface to floor.

Travertine's warm, earthy tones: ivory, walnut, and soft beige  and characteristic matte texture make it one of the most liveable natural stones for everyday dining. Every Franca is unique: the veining and pore character of each slab differ, so no two tables are identical.

The round format with a central pedestal base means unobstructed leg room at every seat and no head-of-table hierarchy every diner is equally placed. Custom sizing is available. Ships Australia-wide in approximately one week.

All our bespoke designs are available for custom sizing and your specification of marble, please email us at hello@elsahomeandbeauty.com.au for any pricing combination of design and material.

We spent upwards of $10K on furniture last year and couldn’t be happier with the experience not to mention the products themselves. Costa was In constant communication with us which we appreciated even though they took longer than initially quoted. Everything is still holding up well and in great shape!! We are planning to order a few items soon so I am hoping the service is just as good this time around!

I have to admit, at first I was skeptical because the items seemed so reasonably priced, but I was quickly proven wrong after just a short conversation. We are thrilled with our custom-made Green Onyx coffee table from Elsa Home & Beauty, it truly feels like we made the perfect choice! Visiting the showroom really helped us appreciate the variety and quality of the stone options, thank you for bringing our dream piece to life!

Common Questions

Is travertine suitable for everyday dining use?

Yes! with appropriate sealing. Travertine for dining tables is supplied filled and honed (the pores are filled and the surface smoothed to a matte finish), making it practical for daily use. The key requirements are: seal on installation, reseal annually, clean with pH-neutral products, and wipe acidic spills promptly. Maintained this way, a travertine dining table is a very long-term investment — the material has been used in significant buildings for thousands of years.

What is the difference between a honed and polished travertine finish?

Honed travertine has a smooth matte surface — no shine or reflection. Polished travertine has a glossy surface achieved through further grinding and buffing. For dining tables, honed is strongly recommended: it shows everyday use less readily, does not require re-polishing over time, and has a warmer, more contemporary aesthetic. The Franca is supplied in a honed finish.

Can I get the Franca in a custom size?

Yes. We accommodate custom diameters and can discuss bespoke specifications including table height and finish variations. Email hello@elsahomeandbeauty.com.au with your requirements for a quote. All pieces are made to order, so custom sizing does not typically add lead time beyond the standard one-week production period.

Where does the stone come from?

The travertine used in the Franca is sourced from established quarries and fabricated at our facilities in Carrara, Italy or Xiamen, China depending on production workload. Both facilities produce to the same specification and quality standard. Stone being a natural product, each slab will have its own unique veining, pore character, and tonal variation i.e: no two Franca tables are identical.
